Ensemble Tbilisi
The choir was formed in 1980 as Ensemble Tbilisi with support by the state of Georgia. The German politician Oskar Lafontaine suggested to give this name to a wonderful men's choir from Tbilisi, capital of Rep. Georgia, having concerts in Saarland, Germany.
The choir performed in Georgia, throughout the former Soviet Union and also in many other countries of the world. For 11 years Ensemble had a singing and dancing groups.
In 1992 Ensemble Tbilisi was transformed into a freelance choir of its own. Today Ensemble Tbilisi is one of the most representative Georgian choirs.
With their leader Robert Gogolashvili, the singers strive to find the balance between preserving and renewal, that gives the old songs new life in our time.
The manager of the choir is Mr. Zaza Mamaladze
The ensemble has now eleven members, who learn all songs by ear. They have also many modern Georgian songs in their repertoire.
In Georgia, Ensemble Tbilisi often is participating at official meetings to present the Georgian song tradition to visitors from foreign countries. Since the 1990's, most of the Ensemble concert performances have taken place in Sweden, Estonia and in the Netherlands.
Ensemble Tbilisi has performed in about 4000 solo concerts since its birth.

Since the 1990's, most of the Ensemble Tbilisi concert performances have taken place in Sweden, Estonia and in the Netherlands.
